A budget is simple: you need to calculate your expenses and subtract that from the amount of
money coming in.
In response to USCCB’s call to action to provide support and resources to pregnant women, especially those seeking the assistance of pregnancy centers, Compass Catholic Ministries intends to create a financial literacy course specifically designed for pregnant mothers (and dads) who experience unexpected pregnancies.
Helping your children incur less debt as they attend school is one of the best graduation gifts you can give them. Student loan debt is debilitating for many college graduates; many will still be paying for loans into their 30s and 40s. This debt makes it difficult to start saving for retirement, to support a family, and to begin building wealth.
I remember very well the first time I earned money… I’m not talking about an allowance or money that I got for being part of the family, I’m talking about doing a job and receiving funds for the task that I completed. The first real job that comes to mind for the purposes of this conversation is when I spent a summer as a long-distance operator for AT&T.
I was in Mass last week and I remember thinking how beautiful it is that Divine Mercy Sunday intersects with the Gospel about Doubting Thomas. Jesus meets Thomas in his disbelief to which Thomas responds, “My Lord and My God!”
Friday is the 91st day of the year. It’s the anniversary of the day that Oliver Pollock, a New Orleans businessman, created the “$” symbol. It’s also the day Louie Marx introduced the Yo-Yo. And yes … it’s also April Fool’s Day.
Compass Catholic is a nonprofit ministry that runs on a combination of books sales and donations. For that reason, I spent part of this past weekend preparing our Giving Tuesday Plan to increase our donor base. Our Core Values dictate that we don’t have affiliate agreements and we don’t recommend any financial goods, products, or services to monetarily benefit the ministry so as to remain completely unbiased. For that reason, we are only funded by book sales and generous donors. Our books and Bible studies have affected thousands of people around the world. We need these financial disciples to consider Compass Catholic in their generosity plan.
