We have faith because of (or through) the vine. That is a God given grace. The fruit of the vine evolves through the good works, love and charity that we perform. Even so, the fruit of the vine is pruned in order that even more fruit might be produced (Cf. John 15:2b). If we are not actively living out our faith, then we face the very real prospect that our branch (us) will be pruned…on the last day. Living our faith…actively on a daily basis…is a requirement. However, if all that you produce are the first fruits, what will you have at the end to show for yourself? In other words, if you do the first ten percent, but fail to expend any effort towards the last ninety percent, then what is the strength of your faith?
