Your Spirituality is Affected by Finances

The 1st Commandment – “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

If you have debt and can only make the minimum payments, there is a significant chance that you are violating the 1st Commandment. “Oh no, that’s not true!” you say.

Let me ask you this question, “What do you think about most of the time?” Is it how lucky we are to have such a great, forgiving God? Or is much of your waking time spent trying to figure out how you are going to put food on the table, keep a roof over your head, AND pay your debts at the end of the month?

If your focus isn’t on God, but on your debt repayment, you have raised the almighty dollar to a level that is above God. “But I’m different,” you say. I still love God; go to church – most of the time, pray before meals. That may all be true, but where is your daily focus?
